I’m waiting.
And it makes me incredibly restless and unable to focus. Checking email and my phone constantly.

I’m waiting for something.
And it makes me exhausted until I want to sleep until this is over, until enough time has passed. And when I wake it’s the same old restlessness.

I’m still waiting.
And it makes me anxious. Time will pass to slowly - how is it still today? Or time will pass too quickly - the days turn into weeks and nothing has changed.

I hope I know what it is when it gets here. And I hope it’s enough.

Ferris Wheel, shut down for the winter.

When I was in college I went and shot slide film on a beach in late winter - there were remains of snow, and a closed down amusement park - I loved it. I always love the beach, and since I’m a summer person, I obviously enjoy it then, but there’s something so serene/surreal about seeing it when it’s deserted for the season and you’re the only one around.

I know mine comes off sound really pretentious (but I like it).

It’s actually twofold - my horse’s show name is “Of Regal Means” (we call him Regal, and no, I didn’t name him, he came with that name!). I’ve used ofregalmeans and regalmeans as usernames/screennames before (I usually leave the ‘of’ off because for some reason it always confused people or they thought it was OF, as in in a farm prefix, it’s not obviously). He came into my life Christmas of 1998 and basically any corny thing you ever say about a pet - that he’s your best friend or whatever? - that’s me and my Regal. I love him (and I miss him like hell).

My name is Sarah, which means princess in Hebrew. One of the more obscure definitions/translations (I’ve only seen it like twice) of Sarah is, actually, “of regal means,” meaning of royal background (hence, princess). So his name is one of the definitions of mine. How random is that?

So “alwaysregal” is a play off both my name and Regal’s show name and also a reminder that he’s always in my life/thoughts even though I don’t get to see him more than a few times a year now.

What was the happiest moment in your life?

Two of them because they’re kind of bookends. The day Regal came home 12/20/1998 because it was basically a dream come true - I finally had my horse. And then 6/24/2007 - my last real horse show with him. It had been a great weekend, celebrating my best friend’s birthday and spending time with all my favorite people, and then that Sunday was our last show. My division got canceled so I had to ride against my trainer and other professionals, my parents came to see me ride, and all my friends were there. It was one of the best shows we ever had - just everything went perfectly. We didn’t win any classes but it was just like all of our work had paid off. Regal was wonderful and we were completely in sync. I miss those days so, so much.
