sarah. washington, dc. (south jersey).
would rather be at the barn, the beach or the trapeze rig.

a random list of things i love:
cilantro, dark chocolate peanut butter cups, framed photographs, black tank tops, flying on the outdoor rig at night with fireworks overhead, the smell of new books, pitchers getting hits, kneehang sit ups, regal's peppermint breath.

9/6 randoms

  • First song on my iphone this morning: Dar Williams’ “End of the Summer”.  No joke.
  • This trend continued throughout the day.  Thank you iphone for the massive college throwbacks.
  • I wore tights today.  And a trenchcoat.  In September. What?
  • Target doesn’t sell Tiger Balm.
  • But I finally found midnight blue nail polish.
  • Gave my body a day off because flying last night was rough on the shoulder.  At this point it’s unnatural to walk by my pullup bar and NOT do something on it.
  • I got the pennyroll (trapeze trick) to catchable timing, then realized I have NO business trying to catch it because it’s a brutal catch and my shoulder is, well, my shoulder.  At least it’s a pretty trick?
  • Homemade gazpacho is good. (Even better since it was fresh tomatoes I picked Sunday).
  • Now I just need to come up with a way to eat my way through all of the apples and peaches I picked this weekend.  I may need to bake something appleish this weekend.
  • Apparently I didn’t know what today’s date was.  Oops.

9/3 randoms

  • Most recent ridiculous injury - tore my big toe up when handstands/inversions against my door went wrong.  Don’t do dumb crap without a spotter kids.  In possibly related news, my doorbell may or may not still work.
  • Kind of wondering why I didn’t go to the Jersey shore for Labor Day.
  • Going apple and peach picking tomorrow in Virginia. And there might be cider doughnuts.
  • My best friend is coming to see me next week and I cannot wait.
  • I’m setting aside a weekend in late Sept/early October to go see my horse.  I miss jersey horse country/home so much these days.
  • I’ve started learning my penny roll at trapeze - apparently I’m just destined to have bruises behind my knees forever.
  • Maybe-quasi-kind-of apartment hunting.  Enough to remind me why I hate apartment hunting.

8/15 randoms

  • I think I am addicted to tiger balm. After a long day at work or a workout, my shoulders love it.
  • Pretty sure the end of my ponytail now permanently smells like a combination of tiger balm and liniment from hitting my shoulders.
  • Got notified of my bonus at work today. My first thought was, oh good, I’ll be able to pay for that TSNY classcard.  Priorities, what?
  • Random advice - when you interview for a position at least act like you care/are excited.  Otherwise I feel like I’m wasting my time.
  • Still giddy about the two pullups I managed last week (and repeatedly, since).  Goal is 5 (min. to take a swing out of lines is 3 - I like to have leeway).
  • Should not be thinking about OOL prep when I haven’t caught a true release trick, done a forceout, half turn or hit a legit 7 in 9+ months.
  • Basically still giddy that I’m back flying at all.
  • Wish I could make the rest of my life work out that well.

11/29 randoms

~ Jamie Moyer is going to become the oldest player on record (that anyone can find) to have Tommy John Surgery.  And he wants to pitch again.
~ Part of me thinks he should have retired when he was on top.  But part of me would love to see him come back.
~ Maybe because I want to believe that I can come back from surgery as if nothing has changed.  When I know it has.
~ I’m wallowing.
~ I need more college basketball to distract me.
~ Tonight was the last IFW class for this round. The facebook updates are not helping the wallowing.
~ I really like Nine West shoes.  This is a problem.
~ I mean the least of my problems, but still.
~ One of my coworkers said today all she had in the fridge was some condiments and a bottle of white wine.  I said well I have some actual produce.  But two bottles of white wine.  I think our team is going to get along fine.

11/19 randoms

~ I just tried to upload Alvin and the Chipmunk’s version of “Bad Day” to tumblr. Sadly it’s not an Mp3 file so no dice.
~ That’s actually not as random as it sounds.
~ Messed my shoulder up catching my hocks-off in trapeze (after spending the class working on my cutaway, decided to catch something easy. Perfect catch. Then my bicep pulled away from the bone and… SLAP tear.  Going to be on the ground for awhile.)
~ Maybe I should have led with that?

8/5/10 randoms

  • Someone got stabbed a block from my office the other morning.  Kind of disturbing.
  • Need to have the car inspected tomorrow.  So not excited.
  • Inspection station is about four blocks from TSNY DC.  This means I won’t get lost, which is helpful.  It also means it’s very tempting to sign up for a morning class but. That would be wrong. Because I have 8 hours of coding to do tomorrow and should get to the office.
  • Got out of the metro today and the sky was clear and I was annoyed that trapeze class (outdoor rig) was canceled.  Then I went grocery shopping and the heavens opened.  Okay, that’s why they canceled.
  • I am always shocked at how much I spend on groceries and I always think “but I spent so much last time!”  I apparently do not realize that groceries are a recurring expense.
  • My dad asked me to drive to Avalon for the weekend.  I was there last weekend but I’m still kind of considering it, except that driving four+ hours each way alone is really unappealing.
  • My new goal in life is to get the point in my career where I HAVE to start taking Fridays off in the summer because I have that much “use it or lose it” vacation.

1/21/2010 randoms (sickbed edition)

  • I need to pay the cable bill.
  • Somehow while sick in bed I managed to download 5 episodes of Make It or Break It on Itunes.  Um, I might have a problem.
  • I love how everyone assumes there’s no way I actually have swine flu.
  • Can I please stop coughing up a lung?
  • Why does Comcast not carry ESPNU?  It was almost worth being sick/stuck in NJ to get to watch tonight’s G’town game on the big screen without having to go out.  Okay, no, it really wasn’t but it was nice.
  • Chinese food is my comfort food.
  • When this ends I’m not going to be able to look at Gatorade for weeks.
  • I would have almost forgotten his birthday if not reminded.  And I’m okay with that.
  • It’s the strangest feeling in the world to see something that, years ago, would have stabbed you in the heart, and to sit there blankly for a moment, then be overwhelmed with relief that you finally feel nothing.
  • How long does white wine stay good for once opened? I’m wondering if the bottle in my fridge has gone bad.  I’m not sure a bottle of wine has ever survived in my apartment this long.
  • I’m out of sweatpants/PJ pants because I’ve been living in them and I packed for a two night trip to NJ but a 5+ night sick marathon.
  • Since I’ve spent most of January sick or asleep, it is hereby decided that I will own February.  Consider this your warning.
  • Please, please, please, can my lungs stay in my chest tonight?

1/4/10 randoms

  • I ignored this blog for about two weeks.
  • Apparently, when you do that your “tumblarity” drops to zero.  Note, I’m still not sure what Tumblarity IS… whatever.
  • I wrote ‘09 on the rent check (luckily I caught that).  I also didn’t pay the rent until this morning.  Oops?
  • I love Big East basketball.
  • College basketball + cold snap = me not leaving the couch.  Again, oops.
  • Took my car to the dealer this morning, so the world’s longest and most minor car accident is officially ending this week.
  • I should note I drove this car all over NJ over the holidays and no one (including me) noticed the dent on the door.
  • Snagged a spot in an Intensive Flying Workshop (IFW) for March/April.  SO excited.  I miss trapeze.
  • Speaking of, TSNY-DC’s daily workout posts totally have me wishing I had a bar to workout with in my apartment.  But knowing me/my apartment, if I installed a bar across a doorframe, I would wind up with it crashing down and hurting me.
  • My new planner makes me irrationally happy.
  • So do new sweatpants, fleece blankets, phone calls from friends, rose scented things, and the chicken-corn chili I made last night.
